Forbes / Innovator’s DNA Most Innovative Company Rankings
Imagine that you were able to lead your company so differently that investors bid up its stock price by 50 percent because they expect innovations—incremental and disruptive—far into the future? Interested? Such a significant market premium might seem impossible to a typical execution-focused executive, but not so for innovative leaders guiding the most innovative companies in the world.
In fact, collaborating with HOLT (a division of Credit Suisse) we found that the world’s most innovative companies do indeed generate a tangible “Innovation Premium”—which we define as the proportion of a company’s market value that cannot be accounted for from cash flows of its current products in its current markets. It is the premium the stock market gives a company because investors expect it to launch new offerings and enter new markets. Companies well known for innovation—like Amazon, Apple, and Google—possess this premium—as do companies you may have heard less of like Salesforce.com, Intuitive Surgical, and Celgene. These are the companies that The Innovator’s DNA ranks as the world’s most innovative companies.
